1:1 SEND English Tutor - Ledbury

Quantum Scholars are looking for a patient, supportive and experienced 1:1 SEND English Tutor to provide personalised English tuition to a young person in Ledbury.
The successful tutor will have experience supporting learners with SEND and be confident adapting their teaching style, pace and resources to meet individual learning needs. The role will focus on building a positive relationship with the young person while supporting their academic progress, confidence and engagement with English.
This is an in-person tutoring role and is not online work.
The role may involve:
- Delivering personalised one-to-one English tuition.
- Supporting a secondary-aged learner with SEND.
- Planning and delivering engaging and accessible English lessons.
- Adapting teaching methods, resources and pace to suit the learner's individual needs.
- Identifying gaps in English knowledge and providing targeted support.
- Supporting areas such as reading, writing, comprehension, spelling, grammar and vocabulary.
- Developing the learner's confidence in reading and written communication.
- Supporting GCSE English preparation and assessments where appropriate.
- Helping the learner develop effective communication and literacy skills.
- Encouraging independence, resilience and positive attitudes towards learning.
- Helping the learner overcome barriers to learning and remain engaged with education.
- Monitoring progress and adapting tuition accordingly.
- Providing appropriate feedback to parents/carers and other professionals involved in the learner's support.
- Building a positive and trusting relationship with the young person.
- Working collaboratively with the wider support team.
- Maintaining professional boundaries and following safeguarding procedures.
Essential requirements:
- Strong English subject knowledge with the ability to support secondary-aged learners.
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
- Experience delivering one-to-one tuition or personalised educational support is desirable.
- Good understanding of how to adapt learning to meet individual SEND needs.
- Patient, calm, flexible and empathetic approach.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods, resources and pace according to the learner.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to build trust and create a positive learning environment.
- Understanding of the barriers that SEND learners may experience within traditional education.
- Good organisational skills and a professional approach.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
