Position Overview:

Supply Desk is working closely with a well-established secondary school in Chichester to recruit a dedicated and passionate English Teacher. This role begins on a long-term contract from September 2026, with the school looking to make the position permanent for the right individual.

The successful applicant will teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4, joining a collaborative and supportive department. Applications are welcomed from Early Career Teachers (ECTs), experienced educators, and those with relevant teaching experience, even if unqualified.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to a variety of learning styles and abilities
  • Foster a love of reading, writing, and language among students
  • Mark and assess student work in line with departmental and national guidelines
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and enrichment initiatives within the English department
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour, engagement, and academic progress
  • Participate in the wider life of the school, including school events and extracurricular activities

Candidate Requirements:

  • A degree in English Literature, English Language, or a closely related subject (essential)
  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or an equivalent recognised qualification (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of the English curriculum at KS3 and KS4
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a genuine passion for teaching English
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • A commitment to inclusive education and continued professional development
