We are currently recruiting for a well-established Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) located in the vibrant borough of Lambeth, London. This Pupil Referral Unit School is dedicated to providing quality education and support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. They pride themselves on creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive academically and personally. 

 

The School are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to start in September 2024. As a Food Technology Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging lessons in Food Technology to students with SEMH needs. You will have the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of our students by equipping them with essential culinary skills and fostering their confidence and independence in the kitchen.

 

This is a permanent role and the salary will be equal to the main Teachers’ pay scale plus SEN points.

 

As a Food Technology Teacher, your responsibilities will include:

  • Plan and deliver dynamic and inclusive Food Technology lessons that cater to the diverse needs of SEMH students.
  • Create a supportive and stimulating learning environment that promotes student engagement and achievement.
  • Keep the kitchen tidy and presentable for learners
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Promote positive behaviour management strategies and maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and other school-related activities as required.

 

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Food Technology or related subjects to students with SEMH needs is desirable but not essential.
  • Passion for working with young people and making a positive difference in their lives.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusion, diversity, and equality within the school community.
