An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and talented English specialist to join a forward-thinking secondary school in Bournemouth as Head of English.

This role is ideal for an experienced teacher ready to step into leadership, or an established Head of Department looking for a new challenge in a supportive and progressive environment.

About the Role
As Head of English, you will lead a dedicated and collaborative department, driving high standards of teaching and learning across Key Stages 3–5. You will play a central role in shaping the curriculum, raising attainment, and contributing to whole-school improvement strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the English department, ensuring high-quality teaching and outcomes
  • Develop and implement an engaging and ambitious English curriculum
  • Monitor student progress and implement strategies to support achievement
  • Support and develop staff through coaching and professional development
  • Contribute to whole-school teaching and learning initiatives
