Are you a passionate and dedicated History Teacher looking for a rewarding role? Teaching Personnel is delighted to offer a full-time position for a History Teacher at an Ofsted Good secondary school in Levenshulme. This role is available to start in September for the full academic year, with the potential for permanency based on performance. The salary for this role is £30,000 to £46,525 per annum, in line with PayScale.

Role Overview:

As a History Teacher, you will inspire and educate students about various historical periods, events, and cultures, fostering their understanding of the past and its impact on the present. You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing History lessons in accordance with the national curriculum, ensuring that all students develop critical thinking, research skills, and a love for history.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging History lessons covering a range of topics, periods, and themes, fostering students' curiosity and understanding of key historical events, figures, and concepts.

  • Historical Analysis: Teach students how to analyse and interpret historical sources, texts, and artefacts, encouraging them to develop critical thinking, research skills, and the ability to evaluate different perspectives.

  • Research Skills: Guide students in conducting historical research, using primary and secondary sources to investigate and draw conclusions about the past.

  • Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their learning and development.

  • Behaviour Management: Establish a positive and inclusive learning environment by implementing effective behaviour management strategies that promote respect, engagement, and participation.

  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues within the History department and across the school to share best practices, resources, and ideas for enhancing teaching and learning.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in History or Humanities.

  • Strong subject knowledge across various historical periods, events, and cultures.

  • Previous experience teaching History at the secondary level, preferably within a UK school setting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.

  • Commitment to promoting historical literacy, critical thinking, and a love for history among students.
