This programme is ideal for aspiring teachers who want to gain valuable classroom experience, develop their confidence, and achieve a fully funded PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) while working in a secondary school environment. 

Year 1: Cover Supervisor 

You will join a supportive secondary school as a Cover Supervisor, developing classroom management skills, supporting student learning, and gaining first-hand experience of school life. Working alongside experienced teachers and school leaders, you will build the knowledge and confidence needed to progress into teacher training whilst making a positive impact on students' education. Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising classes during teacher absences
  • Supporting students to remain engaged in their learning
  • Promoting positive behaviour and classroom routines
  • Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams
  • Developing your understanding of the secondary curriculum

Year 2: PGCE Trainee Teacher 

You will progress onto a fully funded PGCE programme while remaining in the same school, gradually taking responsibility for planning, teaching and assessing lessons. Throughout your training, you will receive expert guidance and mentoring as you work towards achieving QTS and becoming a confident classroom practitioner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any subject
  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)
