Support Worker needed at a Secondary School in South Manchester

Teaching Personnel are working with a secondary school located in South Manchester, who are seeking a dedicated and experienced Support Worker to join their team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing essential support to students with various needs, ensuring their academic, social, and emotional well-being.

This is a full-time position, with a standard working week of 37.5 hours. The school operates during term time, with some flexibility required for attending meetings and events outside of regular hours. The role is based in Wythenshawe, and easy to access via public transportation.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Students: Work closely with students to help them overcome challenges, develop essential life skills, and achieve their academic goals.
  • Collaborate with Teachers and Staff: Communicate effectively with teaching staff and other support workers to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Create and Implement Individualized Support Plans: Develop and execute personalized support plans for students, in collaboration with teachers, therapists, and parents.
  • Monitor Progress and Reporting: Regularly assess and document students’ progress, updating relevant parties on their development and any concerns.
  • Maintain a Safe Learning Environment: Ensure the school remains a safe and inclusive space for all students, addressing any issues that may arise.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 12 months of experience working as a Support Worker or in a similar role within an educational setting.
  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with various needs, including learning difficulties, social challenges, and emotional well-being.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to problem-solving, demonstrating initiative and creativity in finding solutions.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A relevant qualification in Support Work, Education, or a related field.
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing strategies for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Familiarity with the UK National Curriculum and its application to students with diverse needs.
